What's in Season - March Flowers
Here Between the Briars, March has been particularly cold, we had a warm spell in February which got our Hyacinths off to a quick start as well as the narcissi. These two are the stars of the show here in March
March is the time when spring really starts to begin peeking through the soil and lots of textures can be found in the hedgerow, branches about to bud up and leaf or bloom, bare brooms and canes of dogwood shine with scented blooms awakening from their winters sleep. There’s so much inspiration in the air, with seeds being sown for the new seasons annual flower crops.
We are planting a large bed of hellebores this spring for more of this winter beauty in years to come. Tulips usually start at the end of the month along with the first anemones and possibly… hold your excitement….the beginnings of ranunculus! We doubled the patch this year and added inground irrigation in the tunnel, so we really can’t wait to see them bloom soon.
Below is a list of what we expect to have in most years during the month of March
