Valentine’s Day is a holiday synonymous with red roses: a symbol for love. The day falls during the coldest months of the year in the northern hemisphere. Which means roses, a flower that loves summer temperatures, must be grown in carbon fueled glass houses or shipped from summer climates half a world away.

Needless to say, the dependance on roses for valentines day has a detrimental impact on the climate, as well as societies where roses bloom, mostly in Africa and South America where water can be very scare, is pumped away from communities and into the rose fields to feed the Valentines day hunger for these costly blooms. Did you know: One rose stem can require around 8 liters of water before it blooms!?
There is a way to celebrate your love without the need for roses.
To do this, Between the Briars have put together a Valentine’s day offering of cool season flowers in unique and colourful designs.

Valentine’s day is often too early for Irish blooms so we are sourcing from ethical growers in the EU. That said, if Irish blooms can be sourced we will work our magic with them too! Luckily it’s also high time for beautiful Irish foliage, all the foliage in our Valentines offerings will be Irish grown
What may also be unknown to customers is the wholesale price of red flowers around valentines day gets exceptionally increased, to counter this we have added pink designs at a lower price point for those who can be flexible on colour.

We are offering “collection at the gate” the day before valentines day (Tuesday the 13th) and the day of (Wednesday the 14th) as well as delivery on either day. The date will be asked when adding each item to your cart along with the note to receiver. Please choose the correct delivery option at checkout. Only Cork city areas are being serviced this year, so no nationwide courier available!
