2020 Highlights on a Small Irish Flower Farm
It’s safe to say that 2020 was an especially trying year, for everyone globally. We’d like to take a look at some of the highlights from our little flower farm in County Cork, Ireland, and celebrate the good that came from a year filled with such uncertainty
Below are some of our photos documenting the triumphs of our 2020 year.

We were so delighted with our new polytunnel! It gave us the opportunity to spread out our tulip harvests by planting some inside and some outside. Below is a post with the first of our 2020 tulip crop emerging
Spring 2020 gave us a few new crops thanks to the polytunnel, pictured below are fancy tulips and anemones paired in a compote design
We had great success with our late spring meadow style bouquets. We were able to pair with DHL to ship and deliver flower bouquets across the country. Nearly 95% flowers and foliage grown in Cork and arranged in our small florist studio.
We were over the moon to be able to have Irish grown peonies in our bouquets come May and June! This is a first for us, as peonies takes years to establish and a lot of room to grow. We’ve just don’t have the time or space to be able to grow our own Peonies. So happy we can support other Irish growers!
We had a proud year with growing dahlias! All our tubers were divided from last years plants and we doubled our harvest from 2019. In 2021 we hope to double that again, looking forward to dahlia season 2021!
Lillies!!! Irish grown beauties like these tiger lillies below. We know its a flower that some people don’t REALLY love. We just can’t see why! ….they last so long, smell great and come in so many shapes, colours and sizes. We think we converted some of our customers to the beautiful world of lillies in 2020. We even doubled this years crop!
This arch at Cloughjordan House was a great addition to 2020’s wedding portfolio. The arch itself is made by woven willow branches that are rooted and growing in place in their garden. We accented it with these wildflower installations on either side for an asymmetric natural look to this wedding floral arch.
Heirloom pumpkins! Being from the states originally I love pumpkins at Halloween, its a bit of an obsession! We tried growing these pumpkins as a trial patch last year to great success! So much success that we sold out of every last one! Hopefully 2021 is a great year for pumpkins as we hope to triple our efforts again!
Christmas Winter Wreaths…. What can we say… We were so happy to have our first wreath season (we previously avoided making wreaths due to time) and can only Thank all our customers for supporting our Cork Florist buisness around Christmas. We took pride in using as many Irish products and materials as possible. Crafting decorations by hand in the studio here in Glanmire!
