Farmer Florist - What does it mean?

flower seedlings growing on the flower farm

Successions of flower seedlings for this seasons blooms.

The term "Farmer florist" means we grown nearly all the flowers and foliage used in our floristry arrangements here on our land!

We harvest our flower every morning, then let them condition with water for a good few hours, arrange them in bouquets, wrap and hand deliver to

Growing flowers in the Irish climate takes a lot of planning (months in advance), careful thought and being ready to constantly deal with the unexpected.

To get continuous blooms through the season, some flower crops are sown in repeat succession. So when the first sowing of flowers fades we will hopefully have a new batch blooming. Its tricky and doesn’t always work as planned but its a way to try and make the most of our short growing season here in Ireland. Which is April-October.

Between the Briars is proud to be part of global Farmer Florist Collective community

When we can't grow everything we source as locally as possible from other local growers like:

Thanks to all our local flower growers for all the extra support, keeping the local flower movent thriving.
